Guide

Calm reference notes for adults who already mix. No hype, no health claims.

Core formulas

  • Nicotine mL = target strength × batch mL ÷ base strength.
  • Flavor and diluent mL = batch mL × entered percentage.
  • PG/VG to add = target carrier amounts − PG/VG already supplied.

Why PG/VG balance matters

PG and VG differ in viscosity, throat feel, and how they carry flavor. Your nicotine base and your flavor concentrates each bring their own PG or VG to the mix, so the calculator subtracts those contributions before telling you how much pure PG and VG to add. If a target is physically impossible, it says so plainly.

Why steep time matters

Many flavor combinations change substantially over days or weeks as ingredients homogenize. Custards and bakery profiles commonly need multiple weeks; simple fruits are often ready within days. Documenting steep time alongside the recipe removes the guesswork on the next batch.

FAQ

What is a DIY e-liquid calculator?
A planning tool for adults who mix their own e-liquid. Given a batch size, nicotine target, and PG/VG ratio, it calculates the planned amounts of nicotine base, flavoring, PG, and VG — in mL, grams, drops, and percent — so the finished mix can be checked against the plan.
Why does E-Liquid Community calculate in mL?
Nicotine strength is defined per milliliter (mg/mL), and bases and concentrates are sold by mL, so milliliters avoid rounding drift. All math and saved recipes stay in mL for precision.
Can I view results in US fl oz or liters?
Yes. The Display units toggle in the results panel shows volumes in mL, US fl oz, or L. It changes the display only — the underlying math and saved data remain in mL, and the original mL value stays visible for safety.
What is PG/VG ratio?
The proportion of propylene glycol to vegetable glycerin in the carrier portion of the mix; added diluent is shown separately. Higher VG is thicker and smoother; higher PG carries flavor more sharply. Every ingredient contributes its own PG or VG, which the calculator accounts for automatically.
Why can a mix be marked not feasible?
Some targets can't physically be reached — for example, a 6 mg/mL mix from a 3 mg/mL base, or a max-VG target when the nicotine base and flavors already contribute more PG than the ratio allows. The warning names the failed constraint and suggests what to adjust.
Should nicotine be handled carefully?
Yes. Concentrated nicotine is toxic and must be handled with gloves and eye protection, stored securely away from children and pets, and double-checked against independent math before mixing. E-Liquid Community treats nicotine amounts as safety-critical and reminds you to verify them.
Are recipes saved online?
No. Saved recipes live in your browser's local storage on your own device — nothing is uploaded. Export JSON for backups. Optional accounts, if ever added, will be deliberate and clearly announced.
Is this a vape shop?
No. E-Liquid Community is an adult (21+) informational calculator and recipe notebook. It does not sell nicotine, tobacco, vapor products, or anything else, contains no affiliate links, and makes no health or cessation claims.
